2010..my review

Some people write a Brag Letter at the Holiday time..so I decided to chronicle our year also...Readers Digest version.

This sure has been a long year...are you sure it only had 365 days?...it has been a year full of memories!!
Dave and Sandi have left Colorado and moved back to Florida..am not sure if this was 2010..but they attended our Roberts Reunion this summer and both are so healthy and happy...I know that Sandi's parents and family are so happy also to have them home and helping.
We had our Roberts Reunion with all the "older Roberts" attending. It was such a fun time for us and Gene and I were so happy to be able to visit with everyone and see how their lives are doing. Sitting around talking was such a memory maker and so much like the many hours we spent together when we all were younger.
It was so good to see Deb and Rob. We talked and laughed and had a very good time talking about our children and grand-children. Having everyone back in the States is good for them.
Kit and Dale and the boys moved to Georgia...I am sure that Georgia welcomed this wonderful family.Kit had her kool snowfall experience...there was such excitement in her posts about it. They found a church home.Daniel was hospitalized and is doing well now. He continues in our prayers as he plans to re-enter college next fall.
I especially loved being invited to Joni and John's home for Thanksgiving. Their home resonants with love and laughter. Her children welcomed us and showed us a true family Thanksgiving.
John's words and prayer remain in my heart as he spoke of MeeMaw and Poppa (or what-ever each family called them)..and the wonderful times we had with them in the past. Joni's Blog was written about the visit and as always her words made us laugh and remember.
Then Joe and Mic moved Joe back to his home state of Alabama....a Lake House...how wonderful! We can not wait to see it and as Mic referred to it.."their last earthly home"..their joy in being together shines thru.I love reading about Jenni's busy life keeping up with her three children. I hear about Jon and his family and the children's activities. Of course, I love reading about Josh's church and it's ways of reaching out to the people of Rome. Of course his notes about Briggs and Julie surely warm my heart.
The Gene branch has been busy this year as well. Tim and Robyn have been busy. Hope is President of her senior class and Emma is home schooling as she prepares for her acting career.
They are two beautiful young ladies both inside and out.Tim travels alot with his job and Robyn always keeps such a wonderful spirit about it all.
Ann and Jonathan and the girls are as busy as ever. The twins are 14.. and Sam is 10...they volunteer and donate their time to many causes. Their church activities keep them busy also.
Gene continues to work..says he can never retire. My main job is girl and dog sitting...sometimes that is a full time job..(that I love).
I hope 2011 brings health, love, and laughter to you all. I hope that you all will join in on this blog. We all expressed a desire to keep in touch and this could be the way.
Love to you all...k.

December 5, 2010

Winter arrived early in NC this year. We roamed around yesterday and had a simply wonderful day...we had just snow flurries around our city so we went north and then west...western NC is filled with Christmas tree farms in full swing this time of year...
Ann's girls picture was taken in front of our little live potted tree.
The rest of the pictures were taken 12-5-2010 as we roamed....
It was a very bitter cold day with wind chills in the unknown region...we were warm...it was a three dog day for sure.

Winter Pictures....brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Hey everyone. Daniel is doing great! No more trips to the hospital. His coumadin level is almost stable now. I have a job!!!! I'm going to be doing data entry at a medical billing company through a temp agency here in Athens. I start Monday. I am so excited. Dale may be more excited than I am (not really). Paul will have to take over the cooking supervisory role (He doesn't know that yet). Dale is still working a little overtime. Hopefully he'll have enough to pay that exorbitant ticket he received in Flowery Branch. I really love it up here. The temperature is just right. The leaves are changing colors. Even better is that I'll get to see most everybody at Thanksgiving time. I really appreciate Joni hosting this infamous gathering. Bye for now.

Just some pictures from the Gene branch

Just some random pictures from the Gene branch of this many branched tree...\
The first is Gene and Jonathan at Jenna's track meet.
Second is an elk that we saw at Cattaloochee in the Great Smokies.
Third is our ever improving cross country runner Ms. Jenna. She ran with her Middle School team this year and improved her times with each meet. So proud of her!
Hope everyone is doing well as we enter the fall season.
We have had some really cold weather and Gene has not been able to ride his bike as often as he likes.Ann is loving her new job. She and Jonathan took in Scarawinds last weekend. Tori and Jenna spent the weekend with friends and Sam stayed with Gene and I and the pups.We went to a Halloween Festival in Brevard and then Trunk and Treat at the Church.
We are looking foward to the upcoming Thanksgiving holdays. It will be so good to visit with everyone.
Don't forget to vote tomorrow.
I ask again...anyone have any news from your branch?

Praying For Dan

I know you all know about Dan being hospitalized but just wanted to write here and remind everyone to keep them all...Dan, Paul, Kit and Dale in our prayers. I was able to travel to Ga. yesterday but unable to visit with him. We are so thankful that our Lord hears and answers our prayers. This has been a not so gentle reminder that:
Life is what happens while we make other plans...
From the call from Kit...to Joe and Mick's kids and Chase being so thoughtful and helping me locate their parents who sat and talked to me in the rain..to Sandi telling me about lighting candles in prayer..to Tim saying today..."how wonderful our prayers were answered"..to Ann and her daughters asking as soon as they saw me today about Dan... and Deb in her gentle way saying how much she appreciated the updates...we are so blessed to have a family that cares about each other and loves each other...I believe in the power of prayer and also the power of family. Lets keep in touch...not an idle comment but a thought filled one...we all need each other.
Dan...when you can/if you ever read this..please know that you are being lifted up in our thoughts and prayers...Keep fighting this and improving...
Your Family

It's the Batman Fan Again

It's just the batman fan again. Nothing exciting on my front happening. Daniel is settled in at school and has a part time job in an office. Dale is working long hours (at least someone in my family is working). I'm still job hunting. I have put in more applications that I have ever done in my entire lifetime (and that's a long time). I'm beginning to think it's a conspiracy: all applications seem to be online or by email. There is no person to person contact until an interview (and that seems to a rare occurrence). I'm doing a awful lot of cooking and baking to fill my time (and we don't need it). Paul & Lee are also job hunting. We took the Georgia Work Ready test and have certificates. Hopefully I won't have so much time on my hands in the near future. Who would have thought that I WANT to work? Dale took pictures of our house and they are on facebook. I'm trying to work up the energy to work in the backyard. I need to pull vines. Maybe I should rent a sheep or goat. Now that would be an experience. We have a few deer in the neighborhood. Dale usually sees one or two when he leaves in the morning, around 6 AM. That's all for now.

Sure was hoping that someone who join me in this blog...but since not...here we go blogging again...I have a few more pictures to share with you all. Hope that everyone is not too bored.. and that everyone is getting along well...heard from Sandi that they are doing good...Mick dropped me a facebook note...as did Kit...
The NC girls are doing well....Sam starts Girls on The Run next week...Tori made Yearbook Staff and Jenna is running on the Cross Country Team..(me?..I am just running around in my VW)...Ann loves her new job...Jonathan is doing good..he is sure handy to have around as he loves cars as much as Tim and Gene and helps with their (constant) repair. Gene is busy this time of year in his stores..he is in Boone now with a remodel store opening...that left me to watch the animals...by the way...still have openings for (several) kittens and cat adoptions. The Mountain State Fair starts this weekend for sheep. Jenna will be showing her sheep from the Carl Sandburg Home in Flat Rock. Next weekend the girls will be showing their cows. They have been really trying to get them use to the handlers...I wonder if the music being played in the barn really helps?lol...Tim and Gene have plans to travel to Pigeon Forge all next weekend for the Old Car Show over there. It will be Tim's birthday so I KNOW they will have a fun time checking out all the cars.
OK...I have let you all in on what is happening around here...someone please join in...
Love to you all......
